Delete your account and data
Last updated:
You can delete your QandA.fun account, or the data you created as a guest, yourself at any time, in the QandA.fun app or on the website qanda.fun. This page explains how, what is deleted, what is anonymised or kept, and how long it takes.
Delete your account
- Sign in to QandA.fun with the email address or Google account you use for it.
- Open your profile: choose your account menu, then My profile, or go to qanda.fun/me#delete-account, which opens your profile at the Delete account section.
- In the Delete account section at the bottom of your profile, choose Delete account, type your email address to confirm, then choose Delete account again.
Deleting your account can’t be undone. You are signed out on every device at once, and the rest of your data is removed in the background, usually within half an hour. A suspended account can be deleted the same way.
Delete guest data
If you played without signing in:
- Open qanda.fun/me#delete-account in the same browser you played in.
- In the Delete my data section, choose Delete my data, then Delete my data again to confirm.
Only that browser holds the sign-in for your guest identity, and it lasts up to 30 days. Once you clear the browser’s data or the guest sign-in expires, we can no longer tell which guest data was yours, so delete it before then.
Delete by email instead
If you can’t use the button, email [email protected] from the address you sign in with and ask us to delete your account. We will reply to confirm before we delete anything, and then delete it in the same way. We can’t delete a whole guest identity by email, because we can’t verify which guest is yours, but we can anonymise your entries in particular games: see How long we keep data in our Privacy Policy.
What is deleted
- Your account: your email address, your ways of signing in (email and Google), your sign-in sessions, any sign-in link or code not used yet, the count of wrong sign-in codes for your address, the counter that limits how many sign-in emails it can receive (kept as a one-way code of the address), and your confirmation for the AI features.
- Your public name.
- Your quizzes, with their questions and folders, and your themes, private and published.
- Files you uploaded. A file still used by another user’s copy of your published quiz or theme, by a friend challenge someone made from your quiz, or by a past Quiz of the Day, stays with that copy, and a file used by a game someone else played in the last 30 days stays until that game is 30 days old. The rest are deleted by a daily clean-up once nothing uses them, but never sooner than a week after they were uploaded, so usually within about 8 days.
- Games and auto rooms you hosted, including test plays, with the results, answers and feedback in them.
- Friend challenges and assignments you created, with their boards and results.
- Your XP and its history, your game history and best scores, your Quiz of the Day results and streak, and your solo games.
- Your blocks of other authors and players, and other people’s blocks of you.
- Your reports about AI content.
- Your reports, except a report on something we are still reviewing: it stays, without your account and without any note you added, until we decide, and is then deleted.
- Any suspension of your account, and the reports and moderation records about you, your quizzes and themes, and your nicknames and answers, with the evidence kept with them.
What is anonymised
Some of your activity is part of other people’s records. We keep it so their results still add up, but remove what identifies you:
- In games hosted by other people, and on other people’s friend challenges and assignments, your nickname is replaced with “Deleted player” (shown in each viewer’s language) and any text you typed, such as open answers and word-cloud words, is removed. Your scores stay, so their leaderboards and reports stay correct.
- The star ratings and post-game answers you gave in games hosted by other people stay, linked to nothing but a random ID, so the quizzes’ ratings don’t change.
What is kept
- Copies of your published quizzes and themes that other users made with Duplicate or fork. They belong to those users.
- The copy of your published quiz inside games other people played with it, hosted or solo, and inside friend challenges they made from it. A challenge link can be played for 7 days after it is made; its frozen copy stays with that player’s challenge.
- A Quiz of the Day edition made from your quiz that has already gone out stays in the daily archive as a frozen copy, without your name.
- Other players’ own game history and XP from games you hosted.
- Numbers that don’t identify you, such as how many times a quiz was played, its average rating and our daily statistics.
- A record that a deletion took place (random IDs, times and counts, never your email address), for 30 days after it finishes. While other people’s games, friend challenges or assignments still hold your anonymised scores, an empty placeholder for your account also stays: a random ID with the times it was created and deleted, which those scores point to.
How long it takes
Deletion starts as soon as you confirm. Your sign-in is removed and you are signed out at once. Games you were hosting end straight away, and the rest is removed in the background, usually within half an hour: games that just ended are given about 20 minutes to finish scoring and grading first, so the other players keep their results. Uploaded files follow the daily clean-up described above, so they usually take about 8 days, or longer while something that stays still uses them.
